At the Academy took place a legal workshop “Presumption of innocence of a person – a fundamental constitutional principle in criminal justice of Ukraine”

On January 30, 2019, the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine together with the law magazine “The Law of Ukraine” held a legal workshop on the “Presumption of innocence of a person – a fundamental constitutional principle in criminal justice proceedings of Ukraine”, accredited by the Expert Council on Accreditation and Certification under the National Association of Advocates of Ukraine.

 

 

The co-organizer of the event was the National Association of Advocates of Ukraine with the support of the partner – “Publishing House “InYure.

 

The event was opened by the rector of the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Mykhailo Loshytskyi, Deputy Prosecutor General, Candidate of Law, Angela Stryzhevska and head of the Cassation Criminal Court in the Supreme Court Stanislav Kravchenko.

 

 

 

The reports were delivered by: head of the Cassation Criminal Court in the Supreme Court Stanislav Kravchenko – “Article 372 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as a guarantee of observance of the principle of presumption of innocence of the person”; senior lecturer of the department of prosecutor’s training on supervision of law enforcement by the bodies conducting operative-search activity, inquiry and pre-trial investigation, Institute of Prosecutor’s Training of the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Senior Researcher, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Ihor Rohatiuk – “Innocence and guilty. Misdiagnosis of the definitions and the CCP, Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine”; elected member of the High Council for Justice, lawyer Ihor Fomin – “Implementation of the basis of the presumption of innocence in the process of criminal procedural evidences” and “Institute of investigators in the criminal process. Disadvantages in the practice of application”; chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk – “Presumption of innocence as a constitutional guarantee of the right to freedom of the person”; director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Artem Sytnyk – “Problematic issues of the implementation of the constitutional principle of presumption of innocence”; deputy head of the Cassation Criminal Court in the Supreme Court, Secretary of the Secondary Chamber, judge of the CC of the Armed Forces Valentina Shchepotkina – “Criteria for applying the presumption of innocence as a general principle in the special procedures of criminal proceedings”.

 

The moderator of the event was Oleksandr Drozdov – chairman of the High Qualifications and Disciplinary Commission of Advocates, a lawyer, candidate of legal sciences.

 

In the discussion on this issue took active part the judges of courts of general jurisdiction, Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, Specialized anti-corruption, military and regional prosecutors, lawyers, representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine.

 

 

 

During the event was held the presentation of the journal “Judicial practice of the Supreme Court. Legal positions and conclusions in criminal cases” No. 4, 2018.
