On January 22-26, 2018, a study visit was held by representatives of the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine to the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Turkey in the city of Ankara.
During the visit, the delegation of the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine got acquainted with the peculiarities of training and training future employees of the courts and prosecutor’s offices, living conditions, the material and technical base of the Academy of Justice. The sides shared their achievements in various spheres of their activity and discussed the directions for further cooperation.
On the basis of the Academy of Justice, lectures and discussions were held for the representatives of the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine on the topics: “Methodology of training in the preparation of future judges and prosecutors” by the chief of the international relations department, Gekhan Karakose; “The fullness of power, the task of prosecutors and their effective use (the place of the crime, peer review, issues of jurisdiction, supervision of police activities and duties)” by the deputy. Chief prosecutor at the court of western Ankara Mehmet Yilmaz; “The method of effective investigation of cases involving organized crime and terrorist attacks” by the Chief Prosecutor at the Court of Western Ankara Ergun Sahin; “Participation of the prosecutor in the judicial process” by the Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the court of the city of Ankara, Ahmet Akche; “The role of the prosecutor in the execution of the court verdict in cases involving organized crimeand terrorist acts” and “The role of the prosecutor in prison administration” by the prosecutor at the court of western Ankara Abdullah Chitlak; “The trial in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Turkey” head of the 18th Criminal Court of the city of Ankara Mustafa Corumlu.
In addition, members of the delegation visited the Office of the Prosecutor at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Turkey. During the meeting, representatives of the Turkish prosecutor’s office headed by Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Mehmet Arakça presented the organization of work in the Office of the Prosecutor’s Office under the Supreme Court of the Republic of Turkey, international cooperation of the Office and plans for further improvement of the justice system. In turn, the Ukrainian side spoke about the structure of the prosecutor’s office of Ukraine and outlined the current state of reforming the prosecutor’s office and prosecutorial education in Ukraine.
Also, the Ukrainian delegation held a meeting with judges and employees of the apparatus of the Supreme Court of the Turkish Republic and got acquainted with the structure and activities of the judicial system of the Turkish Republic.
The study visit provided an opportunity for representatives of Ukraine to familiarize themselves with the legal system of the Republic of Turkey, the system of training personnel for justice bodies and strengthen working and partnership relations between the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Turkey and the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine.
