A round table “Professional Ethics of the Court Process” was held

On November 24, 2017, at the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine took place a round table “The Professional Ethics of the Court Process”. The event was organized for a comprehensive dialogue of scholars and practitioners, the exchange of experience in the application of the rules of professional ethics, in order to work out proposals to improve the ethical standards of interaction and communication of judges, lawyers, prosecutors and other participants in legal proceedings, preventing ethical conflicts in the judicial process.


The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the Acting Rector of the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine Mykola Yakymchuk, who noted that for the first time in many years in Ukraine organized a scientific and practical round table devoted to issues of professional ethics of the court process.



At one roundtable discussion of professional ethics was able to gather a number of different organizations, institutions, authorities, higher education institutions, including representatives of the Council of Judges of Ukraine, the Council of Prosecutors of Ukraine, the National Association of Advocates of Ukraine; The Association for the Development of Judicial Self-Government in Ukraine, the General Inspectorate of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Bar Association, the Open Ukraine Justice Ethics Committee, as well as academics from higher education institutions and scientific institutions, and media representatives.



Were defined priority directions of the round table: problems of formation of professional ethics of court process; professional ethics of judges, prosecutors and lawyers; ethical conflicts in the trial.



We should note that the round table on professional ethics of the trial was held in Ukraine for the first time, having gathered for a joint dialogue of prosecutors, lawyers, and judges to solve urgent ethical issues that exist in court cases.
